Massey PhD Student wins award for birdsong recognition technology

Massey PhD student Nirosha Priyadarshani was featured on Television New Zealand News (http://tvnz.co.nz/national-news/new-bird-song-recognition-technology-video-6121139) for her work on automated bird song recognition technology.  The work involves developing methods to recognise bird calls, and can help in estimating bird populations in the bush.  Nirosha has been awarded a World Wildlife Fund Conservation Innovation Award, and is supervised by Prof Isabel Castro and Assoc Prof Stephen Marsland.
